HID Global’s Desktop Fingerprint Readers Bring Strong User Authentication to IGEL Ready Showcase
Over the last decade, biometrics have rapidly evolved. Many organizations across the healthcare, retail and financial services sectors are now using this technology to validate their employees’ identities, protecting who can access what confidential data.
According to a report released earlier this year by MarketandMarkets, the global biometric system market size is expected to grow from USD 42.9 billion in 2022 to USD 82.9 billion by 2027. As noted by analysts, among the key factors driving this growth is the rising demand for strong user authentication and identification solutions, beyond simple passwords
Biometric security improves security and the employee experience
There are many benefits for businesses using biometrics for security and authentication. To begin with, these organizations can effectively eliminate the use of passwords – which are often easily lost or stolen – by using fingerprint data to verify the user’s identity and provide secure access to business-critical data and applications.
Next, by making identity verification and authentication faster and easier for the end user, businesses benefit from increased productivity and an improved employee experience. IT teams no longer need to spend time resetting passwords, which can frustrate end users and delay access to critical resources.
Fingerprint readers designed for individual and shared digital workspace environments
HID Global, the worldwide leader in trusted identity solutions and an IGEL Ready Advanced partner, recently expanded its portfolio of IGEL Ready solutions to include the EikonTouch TC710, TC510 and DigitalPersonal 4500 Fingerprint readers. These USB desktop fingerprint readers are ideal for individual and shared digital workspace environments. Their compact design conserves desk space and their professional, modern form factors work well in enterprise, banking, healthcare, and point-of-sale (POS) environments.
The DigitalPersona 4500 Fingerprint reader utilizes optical fingerprint scanning technology to achieve excellent image quality, a large capture area and superior reliability. A silicone coating allows it to read a wide range of fingerprints accurately and rapidly regardless of placement angle. The high-quality metal casing resists unintentional movement.
The EikonTouch TC710 fingerprint reader uses capacitive scanning technology and is FBI/PIV/FAP 10 certified, supporting applications such as the electronic prescription of controlled substances (EPCS) in healthcare, and Government ID applications where certified fingerprint technology is required.
The EikonTouch TC510 adds an additional coating for increased durability, making it ideal for employee-facing authentication applications in retail and restaurant POS terminals, time-attendance, and reducing theft from shared passwords or shared ID cards
HID Global Single Fingerprint Readers are proven solutions. They work with IGEL OS endpoints connecting to VDI environments such as Citrix shared desktops, that require fast user switching and strong user authentication.
