HEIKO GLOGE JOINS MELCHERS
1988
With more than 200 years’ experience as a global trading company, C Melchers GmbH provides a wide range of services in a diverse set of markets with special emphasis on Asia.
HEIKO GLOGE CREATES NETCOM
1991
As a first for Melchers, Heiko establishes within the company a value-added tech reseller
Netcom becomes master distributor in Germany for IGEL 0.0
1998
The original IGEL existed as a publicly-traded German hardware manufacturer based in Augsburg. Their products are represented across Germany by Netcom as the Master Distributor.
IGEL 1.0 Formed
2001
After the original IGEL files bankruptcy, Heiko re-invents IGEL with a core group of Augsburg-based developers, manufacturing Linux thin client hardware and headquartered in Bremen.
IGEL #1 in Germany
2006
Surpassing Compaq, HP and Dell, IGEL becomes the #1 thin client supplier in Germany a position they’ve held to this day.
Universal Desktop Converter
2011
Listening to customers, IGEL launches its first ever software conversion product enabling IGEL OS to power a potential billion x86 endpoints
IGEL SAN FRANCISCO
2016
As North American CEO and Global CMO, Jed Ayres establishes IGEL’s USA Headquarters in San Francisco and begins the aggressive transformation and expansion of IGEL software business.
Microsoft WVD
2019
In November of 2019, at Microsoft Ignite, Scott Manchester invites Co-CEO Jed Ayres to the stage, designating IGEL as a key partner for their Windows Virtual Desktop platform.

TA Invests in IGEL
2021
TA Associates, a leading global growth private equity firm, invests in IGEL and becomes the majority shareholder. As part of the investment, Bill Veghte joins the IGEL Board as Executive Chairman
