In waving goodbye to our hardware business, shifting to a subscription model, and bringing to market our ground-breaking COSMOS platform, IGEL is setting the course towards a promising future that is rich with innovation. The narrative unfolding within IGEL Ready mirrors this pattern of advancement and transformation.

The growing IGEL Ready ecosystem, comprised of the industry’s best hardware and software partners, is a point of pride and offers a strong foundation for future growth and innovation. As we continue to down this path with our 130+ IGEL Ready partners, IGEL is optimizing the program to align with our collective goals and objectives more closely.

What’s Changing?

  • New IGEL Ready program levels. The Activated and Advanced nomenclature has been replaced by IGEL Ready and IGEL Ready Certified.

IGEL Ready

  • A faster path to IGEL Ready Certified. With the advent of COSMOS, there is a clearer, faster path for software partners to create a more dynamic connection to IGEL through the creation of an IGEL Certified app for the IGEL App Portal. Contact the IGEL Ready team for next steps and kickstart your COSMOS journey today.
  • Refreshed branding. An all new IGEL Ready logo and IGEL Ready Certified badge along with an updated IGEL Ready Ecosystem graphic are now available. If you’re an IGEL Ready partner, log into the IGEL Ready Hub for access to these new resources.

What’s new with the IGEL Ready Showcase?

The pages on the IGEL Ready Showcase are now updated with the new badges and tier names. The hardware product pages have been refreshed with more descriptive tags to identify the CERTIFIED devices compared to the non-CERTIFIED ones. The Digital Workspace  Ecosystem Alliance (DWEA), a non-profit consortium of technology leaders dedicated to providing vendor-neutral tools and resources to help organizations develop their digital workspace strategies, has released the results of its first annual “State of the Digital Workspace 2022” survey, which looks at adoption, benefits, challenges and opportunities that remote, hybrid and on-premises work environments currently face.

During September 2022, more than 2,500 organizations around the world took part in the survey, which was one of the largest digital workspace-focused surveys to date and comes at a pivotal moment when the upheaval we’ve experienced due to the global pandemic. The lessons learned over the last two years are still fresh in our minds and based on the survey, a clearer picture of the path forward is emerging with many organizations eager to solidify the digital workspace strategies that will see them into the future.

DWEA Survey infographic

Security, Complexity, and Legacy Solutions are Roadblocks to Modernization

It was not surprising to learn that many organizations participating in the DWEA survey agreed that the flexible hybrid workspace is a viable model moving forward, with roughly 6 out of 10 organizations banking on remote/hybrid work for the long term. Yet, these same organizations remain daunted by the task of securing and managing their endpoints. What’s more, according to the survey, many organizations may be prioritizing convenience at the expense of security, even with ransomware and other cybersecurity threats on the rise.

Further, a less than satisfactory experience with legacy technologies including virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) is preventing and/or delaying some organizations from modernizing their digital workspace deployments. in ways that improve the employee experience while at the same time securing the endpoint. As noted in the survey results, this has put many organizations behind the curve when it comes to deploying more streamlined and cost-effective digital workplace strategies and initiatives. In fact, according to the survey, only 6.2% percent of respondents have fully executed their digital workspace strategy.

IGEL Delivers a Powerful, Easy-to-Manage and Secure Digital Workspace Experience

At IGEL, we believe that protecting the network edge is critically important. We also know that patching and securing endpoints is not easy. It can be time-consuming, resource-intensive, and diminish user productivity.

Yet, in a world where people can work from anywhere, IGEL OS can be an important part of any organization’s digital workspace strategy, helping overcome many of the roadblocks that businesses face on the journey toward modernization. Offering fully managed, secure endpoint access to any digital workspace, IGEL OS gives IT teams strong control and end-users the freedom to work as they wish in a hybrid world.

Further, through IGEL Ready, businesses have access to more than 120 technology partners providing hardware, software, and peripheral solutions that have been verified for use with IGEL OS to deliver a powerful, productive, and secure user experience for digital workspaces within modern workplace environments.

Last month, IGEL welcomed many of our IGEL Ready Partners to San Francisco for the IGEL Ready Advisory Board meeting at VMware Explore. The event was kicked off with an opening keynote from our sponsor AMD, followed by insightful sessions on the future of EUC from other top executives from Citrix, Lenovo, Microsoft, and VMware. More than 50 attendees representing companies including 7Signal, ControlUp, eG Innovations, HID Global, Liquidware, Nexthink, Nutanix, Rimo3, Tehama, ThinPrint, Tricerat and Vasion/PrinterLogic, joined us for the meeting on the afternoon of Monday, August 29.

One of the key take-aways from this meeting is that the growing IGEL Ready ecosystem, which now includes 120+ alliance partners, is making significant strides in helping our mutual partners and their customers successfully adapt to the evolving needs of the hybrid workplace.

Some of the highlights from the IGEL Ready Advisory Board meeting include:

David Rosado, Senior Marketing Manager for AMD’s Adaptive Computing Group shared insights and updates on how AMD is collaborating with Microsoft, VMware and IGEL to enable and enhance modern virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) deployments. In the case of IGEL, AMD is optimizing the IGEL UD3 endpoints for cloud workspaces through the AMD Ryzen™ Embedded R1505G system-on-chip. By engaging with AMD through IGEL Ready, partners benefit from more performance to drive productivity and collaboration; increased security to protect virtualized applications; and connectivity options designed to offer flexibility, seamless integration, and ease of use.

Sridhar Mullapudi, General Manager for Citrix, provided an update on Citrix and shared how future success depends on the ability to deliver a unified, secure, and simplified work experience across every work channel and location. Desktop delivery is evolving, and Citrix provides a Desktop-as-a-Service solution designed to meet the needs of the hybrid work world. Citrix is also embracing the hybrid cloud, multi-cloud world through its alliances with AWS, Microsoft, VMware, and more. With a partnership that spans 20+ years, Citrix and IGEL are teaming up to deliver a modern workspace that is resilient, drives productivity and performance and aligns with the hybrid, multi-cloud requirements of today’s organizations.

Andy Nieto, Senior Solutions Manager for Lenovo, explained how Lenovo envisions a world where every person and business has access to the technology that allows them to achieve their own intelligent transformation. He shared that Lenovo, working together with other IGEL and IGEL Ready ecosystem partners Citrix, VMware, NVIDIA and Nutanix, is delivering end-to-end VDI solutions encompassing endpoints, software, infrastructure, and services. He also highlighted the enablement programs that Lenovo offers with IGEL to help partners create new opportunities and build pipeline, for example, the “Why Compromise” campaign which demonstrates how the choice of endpoint doesn’t have to compromise the choice of endpoint, security, or management experience.

IGEL Ready

Kam VedBrat, Director of Azure Virtual Desktop for Microsoft discussed the flexibility of Windows for hybrid work, and how virtualization can unlock key hybrid work scenarios by supporting data security, high-capacity computing, Bring-Your-Own-PC programs, disaster recovery, temporary workforces, and mergers & acquisitions. He also explained the value of Windows 365 in terms of providing a personalized, powerful, simple, and secure Windows 11 or Windows 10 experience, and offered best practices for selecting the right Windows 365 solution, depending on the needs of the organization. Additionally, the importance customer-led innovation and collaboration, as well as alliances with key ecosystem partners including IGEL, Citrix and VMware, were also highlighted during the session.

Bharath Rangarajan, General Manager and Vice President of Products – EUC for VMware shared an update on VMware’s commitment to its alliance and partnerships within the VDI and DaaS space, new developments with VMware’s Anywhere Workspace that are designed to improve scalability and security, reduce operational complexity, and optimize the digital employee experience (DEX). He also shared insights on what the industry has learned about hybrid work since 2020 and how organizations are finding success today with hybrid work. During the presentation, he also emphasized the importance of being able to deliver, measure, analyze and remediate, and how VMware’s alliances with IGEL and the IGEL Ready ecosystem are helping the company empower partners and their customers to enable employees to do their best work.

During the meeting, attendees also heard from our team about the key benefits available through IGEL Ready and how they can maximize their IGEL Ready partnership.

We also shared a few success stories and examples of how IGEL is driving co-marketing activities with its IGEL Ready partners to enable a better customer reach.

Some of the highlighted go-to-market opportunities included co-branded content; webinars and events; joint marketing, PR, and social media activities; and demand generation programs that partners can use to reach more customers, generate new pipeline, nurture leads and close more deals. For more information on the benefits of IGEL Ready, access our program guide here.

Further, we presented a preview of the plans for 2023, including a sneak peek of the DISRUPT 2023 prospectus. Next year, we will be doing two large-scale events in North America and EMEA during February. These events will provide IGEL Ready partners around the globe with yet another fantastic opportunity to showcase their technology offering and share insights and industry thought leadership with IGEL partners and customers. More to come on this, so stay tuned!

IGEL is proud to be a member of the Digital Workspace  Ecosystem Alliance (DWEA), a non-profit consortium of technology leaders dedicated to providing vendor-neutral tools and resources to help organizations develop their digital workspace strategies. Essential to these efforts is the ability to identify where organizations are in their digital workspace journey today.

To help the DWEA assess and evaluate the challenges and opportunities that remote, hybrid and on-premises work environments currently face, the consortium is launching its first bi-annual “State of the Digital Workspace 2022” survey.

The survey will look at which cloud and digital workspace strategies are being leveraged most; factors that prevent organizations from developing and executing on these strategies; what technologies and operating systems organizations are using to deliver digital workspaces; the level of required to implement digital workspaces; and, application management.

Please consider sharing your insights on where your organization is in its digital workspace journey today by completing the DWEA survey here. The first 1,000 survey respondents to complete the survey before July 31, 2022 will receive a copy of the final report once it is published in August 2022. You will also be entered to win one of five $100 (or local currency equivalent) gift cards.

Thank you in advance for your participation in this important research!

The dramatic shift over the past year has not only changed how we work, it’s made it all the more critical to deploy the right endpoint device to meet your mobile workforce’s business needs. Today’s “work from anywhere” world offers more freedom for users, but keeping endpoint devices and virtual desktops safe remains of paramount concern.

Enter: our award-winning IGEL OS software that allows existing laptops, notebooks, and thin clients to be converted into lean, secure, and powerful endpoints. They’re able to be fully managed and controlled by the IT team, without compromising endpoint device management and security across the enterprise.

IGEL OS can run on any compatible x86-64 device. So, how about we go a step further and provide a hardware device tailored to your users’ needs, that harnesses the power of IGEL’s endpoint security and optimization solutions, and delivers a seamless end-user computing experience?

The answer to that question is the IGEL Ready program. We team up with industry-leading endpoint manufacturers to provide plug-and-play devices that can be deployed to satisfy the needs of various use cases and environments. This IGEL Ready hardware puts you in control of your virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) faster, more efficiently, and more reliably than ever before.

So, what is an IGEL Ready Endpoint?

The IGEL Ready program allows hardware partners and other endpoint players to validate their devices to work smoothly with IGEL OS to ensure an optimal user experience. With the testing and verification required to validate IGEL Ready hardware, you can have confidence that comes from knowing that any new device with the “IGEL Ready” designation, will integrate smoothly into your existing IGEL infrastructure. Plus it will offer productive, fulfilling user experiences.

What’s more? Organizations deploying these IGEL Ready endpoint devices will benefit from the complete IGEL ecosystem of over 100 IGEL Ready partners, whose technologies are fully compatible and ready to use and integrate with any device powered by IGEL OS.
