Many of our customers have asked about the difference between ACTIVATED and ADVANCED designations within the IGEL Ready Program. So, to help shed more light this, we sat down with Divya Saggar, Director of IGEL Ready for a Q&A on the differences between these two levels and advantages of each for our partners.

Q: What is IGEL Ready and IGEL Ready Showcase?

A: IGEL Ready is IGEL’s flagship technology alliance program for integrated hardware vendors (IHVs) and integrated software vendors (ISVs) that want to develop integrations with IGEL OS, a managed endpoint operating system that delivers a secure, manageable, and cost-effective end user computing experience across VDI, DaaS and SaaS environments.

The IGEL Ready Showcase is the website where customers and partners can go to learn more about the companies that have verified their technologies with IGEL OS. The showcase contains information about each company and solution, including data sheets, videos, whitepapers, and more.

Q: What is the difference between IGEL Ready ACTIVATED and IGEL Ready ADVANCED? What do the levels mean for a customer buying IGEL or the partner products?

A: For a partner offering listed as IGEL Ready ACTIVATED, the partner has performed the testing and verification using the test kits and other resources provided by the IGEL Ready team. Once the testing is complete, IGEL will support its software, meaning IGEL OS and the partner supports their specific solution offering or hardware.

If a customer experiences any support issues, they will be required to contact the partner in question separately. However, IGEL is available to help the customer by escalating any issues they may experience with an ACTIVATED solution in cases where they are unable to resolve a challenge on their own.

For a partner offering listed as IGEL Ready ADVANCED, all integration and testing are done by IGEL. For software, it means that the partner solutions are integrated directly into the IGEL firmware and can be deployed from IGEL OS. For hardware it means, that the device is shipped to IGEL for complete testing.

An ADVANCED solution or device is fully supported by IGEL, meaning if a support issue arises with an ADVANCED solution, everything can be handled by IGEL.

The customer can check the level of the partner offering on the IGEL Ready Showcase website.

Q: What do the ACTIVATED and ADVANCED levels mean for the partners?

A: Most of our IHV and ISV partners will begin their IGEL Ready journey at the ACTIVATED level as ADVANCED is “invite-only” or requires a business case to qualify.

For partners, there are four primary differences between the two levels they should be aware of – program benefits, support, integration, and testing. As mentioned previously, IGEL handles all support cases for ADVANCED level solutions. IGEL also takes care of all integration and testing for these solutions. In the case of an ACTIVATED level partner, they will be required to support their own solutions and perform their own testing and integration with IGEL OS. Further, with each new release of IGEL OS, IGEL tests the ADVANCED level solutions. ACTIVATED level partners are encouraged, but not required, to keep their solutions up to date with each major release.

ADVANCED level partners also get an elevated level of alliance engagement and business development benefits. An ADVANCED level IGEL Ready partner works closely with the IGEL Ready team on various opportunities to do a joint go to market, run co-marketing programs and promote our offerings to the customers.

Q: Where can customers and partners find more information about the program?

A: IGEL Ready Showcase is the primary source of information for the IGEL Ready program. Key features of the site include:

  • Program Guide where all details of the program and its benefits for customers and partners can be found.
  • Badges signifying the level of testing and integration completed by the IGEL Ready partner and/or its products.
  • Company profile featuring more information on the IGEL Ready partner including links to product pages that provide specifications and other details.

Q: Does IGEL Ready designate whether a partner has met IGEL ACTIVATED or IGEL ADVANCED requirements?

A: Each of our IGEL Ready IHV and ISV partners’ Showcase pages feature a badge indicating the level their solutions have achieved with IGEL Ready.

For more information on the IGEL Ready Showcase, visit https://www.igel.com/ready/. More information on IGEL OS can be found at www.igel.com.

Over the last decade, biometrics have rapidly evolved. Many organizations across the healthcare, retail and financial services sectors are now using this technology to validate their employees’ identities, protecting who can access what confidential data.

According to a report released earlier this year by MarketandMarkets, the global biometric system market size is expected to grow from USD 42.9 billion in 2022 to USD 82.9 billion by 2027. As noted by analysts, among the key factors driving this growth is the rising demand for strong user authentication and identification solutions, beyond simple passwords

Biometric security improves security and the employee experience

There are many benefits for businesses using biometrics for security and authentication. To begin with, these organizations can effectively eliminate the use of passwords – which are often easily lost or stolen – by using fingerprint data to verify the user’s identity and provide secure access to business-critical data and applications.

Next, by making identity verification and authentication faster and easier for the end user, businesses benefit from increased productivity and an improved employee experience. IT teams no longer need to spend time resetting passwords, which can frustrate end users and delay access to critical resources.

Fingerprint readers designed for individual and shared digital workspace environments

HID Global, the worldwide leader in trusted identity solutions and an IGEL Ready Advanced partner, recently expanded its portfolio of IGEL Ready solutions to include the EikonTouch TC710, TC510 and DigitalPersonal 4500 Fingerprint readers. These USB desktop fingerprint readers are ideal for individual and shared digital workspace environments. Their compact design conserves desk space and their professional, modern form factors work well in enterprise, banking, healthcare, and point-of-sale (POS) environments.

The DigitalPersona 4500 Fingerprint reader utilizes optical fingerprint scanning technology to achieve excellent image quality, a large capture area and superior reliability. A silicone coating allows it to read a wide range of fingerprints accurately and rapidly regardless of placement angle. The high-quality metal casing resists unintentional movement.

The EikonTouch TC710 fingerprint reader uses capacitive scanning technology and is FBI/PIV/FAP 10 certified, supporting applications such as the electronic prescription of controlled substances (EPCS) in healthcare, and Government ID applications where certified fingerprint technology is required.

The EikonTouch TC510 adds an additional coating for increased durability, making it ideal for employee-facing authentication applications in retail and restaurant POS terminals, time-attendance, and reducing theft from shared passwords or shared ID cards

HID Global Single Fingerprint Readers are proven solutions. They work with IGEL OS endpoints connecting to VDI environments such as Citrix shared desktops, that require fast user switching and strong user authentication.

October 26th sees Liquidware Senior Solutions Architect, Johnny Ma, discussing taking your apps to the edge!

Johnny is an EUC expert and works daily with our joint customers on architecting desktop virtualization and application delivery solutions. As a multiple CTA (Citrix Technology Advocate) he also leads Colorado’s Citrix User Group Community.

In this webinar, Johnny will share the power and flexibility of Liquidware’s application layering and delivery solution, FlexApp.

FlexApp is the most innovative app attachment layering market-leading solution for application delivery and portability.  There are a number of industry-first innovations that makes FlexApp the ‘go to’ solution for many of our customers. These innovations include:

  • FlexApp One – a self-contained app option that supports laptop use and deployment by any means, including Microsoft InTune, Nerdio Manager, VMware Workspace One and any cloud share. You can even use FlexApp One packages offline!
  • Packaging automation – perfect for organizations that have many hundreds of applications!
  • Compatibility – over 90% of apps can be delivered with FlexApp
  • Micro Isolation – no need to stack multiple applications into single layers. Instead, a single layer is created for each application, allowing for ultimate granularity in assigning apps to users, groups and machines.
  • Cloud-native FlexApps – applications can be stored natively on any major cloud (such as Microsoft Blob storage) without the expense or complications of file shares.
  • Session isolation – Multi-session Windows, RDS and Citrix Virtual Apps are no problem for FlexApp, users only see and use the apps they have access to, even on the same host!

So, that gives you a taste of what FlexApp can do, by attending the webinar Johnny will drill down into how FlexApp truly takes apps to the edge of end-user computing by supporting any Windows workspace; including Citrix, VMware, Windows AVD and physical devices.

Last month, IGEL welcomed many of our IGEL Ready Partners to San Francisco for the IGEL Ready Advisory Board meeting at VMware Explore. The event was kicked off with an opening keynote from our sponsor AMD, followed by insightful sessions on the future of EUC from other top executives from Citrix, Lenovo, Microsoft, and VMware. More than 50 attendees representing companies including 7Signal, ControlUp, eG Innovations, HID Global, Liquidware, Nexthink, Nutanix, Rimo3, Tehama, ThinPrint, Tricerat and Vasion/PrinterLogic, joined us for the meeting on the afternoon of Monday, August 29.

One of the key take-aways from this meeting is that the growing IGEL Ready ecosystem, which now includes 120+ alliance partners, is making significant strides in helping our mutual partners and their customers successfully adapt to the evolving needs of the hybrid workplace.

Some of the highlights from the IGEL Ready Advisory Board meeting include:

David Rosado, Senior Marketing Manager for AMD’s Adaptive Computing Group shared insights and updates on how AMD is collaborating with Microsoft, VMware and IGEL to enable and enhance modern virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) deployments. In the case of IGEL, AMD is optimizing the IGEL UD3 endpoints for cloud workspaces through the AMD Ryzen™ Embedded R1505G system-on-chip. By engaging with AMD through IGEL Ready, partners benefit from more performance to drive productivity and collaboration; increased security to protect virtualized applications; and connectivity options designed to offer flexibility, seamless integration, and ease of use.

Sridhar Mullapudi, General Manager for Citrix, provided an update on Citrix and shared how future success depends on the ability to deliver a unified, secure, and simplified work experience across every work channel and location. Desktop delivery is evolving, and Citrix provides a Desktop-as-a-Service solution designed to meet the needs of the hybrid work world. Citrix is also embracing the hybrid cloud, multi-cloud world through its alliances with AWS, Microsoft, VMware, and more. With a partnership that spans 20+ years, Citrix and IGEL are teaming up to deliver a modern workspace that is resilient, drives productivity and performance and aligns with the hybrid, multi-cloud requirements of today’s organizations.

Andy Nieto, Senior Solutions Manager for Lenovo, explained how Lenovo envisions a world where every person and business has access to the technology that allows them to achieve their own intelligent transformation. He shared that Lenovo, working together with other IGEL and IGEL Ready ecosystem partners Citrix, VMware, NVIDIA and Nutanix, is delivering end-to-end VDI solutions encompassing endpoints, software, infrastructure, and services. He also highlighted the enablement programs that Lenovo offers with IGEL to help partners create new opportunities and build pipeline, for example, the “Why Compromise” campaign which demonstrates how the choice of endpoint doesn’t have to compromise the choice of endpoint, security, or management experience.

IGEL Ready

Kam VedBrat, Director of Azure Virtual Desktop for Microsoft discussed the flexibility of Windows for hybrid work, and how virtualization can unlock key hybrid work scenarios by supporting data security, high-capacity computing, Bring-Your-Own-PC programs, disaster recovery, temporary workforces, and mergers & acquisitions. He also explained the value of Windows 365 in terms of providing a personalized, powerful, simple, and secure Windows 11 or Windows 10 experience, and offered best practices for selecting the right Windows 365 solution, depending on the needs of the organization. Additionally, the importance customer-led innovation and collaboration, as well as alliances with key ecosystem partners including IGEL, Citrix and VMware, were also highlighted during the session.

Bharath Rangarajan, General Manager and Vice President of Products – EUC for VMware shared an update on VMware’s commitment to its alliance and partnerships within the VDI and DaaS space, new developments with VMware’s Anywhere Workspace that are designed to improve scalability and security, reduce operational complexity, and optimize the digital employee experience (DEX). He also shared insights on what the industry has learned about hybrid work since 2020 and how organizations are finding success today with hybrid work. During the presentation, he also emphasized the importance of being able to deliver, measure, analyze and remediate, and how VMware’s alliances with IGEL and the IGEL Ready ecosystem are helping the company empower partners and their customers to enable employees to do their best work.

During the meeting, attendees also heard from our team about the key benefits available through IGEL Ready and how they can maximize their IGEL Ready partnership.

We also shared a few success stories and examples of how IGEL is driving co-marketing activities with its IGEL Ready partners to enable a better customer reach.

Some of the highlighted go-to-market opportunities included co-branded content; webinars and events; joint marketing, PR, and social media activities; and demand generation programs that partners can use to reach more customers, generate new pipeline, nurture leads and close more deals. For more information on the benefits of IGEL Ready, access our program guide here.

Further, we presented a preview of the plans for 2023, including a sneak peek of the DISRUPT 2023 prospectus. Next year, we will be doing two large-scale events in North America and EMEA during February. These events will provide IGEL Ready partners around the globe with yet another fantastic opportunity to showcase their technology offering and share insights and industry thought leadership with IGEL partners and customers. More to come on this, so stay tuned!

Also joining us for the IGEL Ready Partner Advisory Board meeting was IGEL CEO Jed Ayres, who thanked our partners for believing in IGEL and the power of the IGEL ecosystem and shared the many ways in which IGEL and its partners can win together in the delivery of VDI, DaaS and cloud-native digital workspace applications.

Liquidware’s industry leading Digital Workspace Management solutions will be showcased during the show to demonstrate how their solutions help healthcare organizations to “Reimagine Health”

Liquidware is among a select group of exclusive partners to participate in the second annual IGEL Partner Pavilion at HIMSS 22, the healthcare industry’s information and technology event of the year. Here, in booth #5443, alongside IGEL and eight other key IGEL Ready partners, Liquidware will be demonstrating their key technologies that help Healthcare IT transform and deploy next generation workspaces. These technologies comprise ProfileUnity™ for user environment management, FlexApp™ for application layering and delivery, and Stratusphere™ UX for digital experience monitoring and diagnostics. When combined together in a bundle call Liquidware Essentials, these award-winning solutions deliver the ultimate in digital workspace management.

In healthcare, better user productivity, experience and data access translates into improved patient outcomes. That’s why so many healthcare organizations turn to IGEL and IGEL Ready partners to power their endpoint environment. An ideal solution to enhance remote endpoint security and optimization, IGEL makes it easier for healthcare leaders to deliver the familiar, secure and trouble-free environment their healthcare enterprise requires.

During the live event, held March 14-18 in Orlando, Liquidware will be demonstrating its integrations with IGEL that allows healthcare IT staff to achieve a number of benefits, including:

  • Delivering follow-me mobile workspaces to enable clinicians to perform work at the point of care with greater accuracy
  • Accelerating workspace logins to mere seconds
  • Boosting desktop security with user and applications rights management, application whitelisting and blacklisting features, as well as monitoring and simplified management to keep operating systems and applications current
  • Simplifying application management to reduce administrative workloads in provisioning and maintaining applications. Centralizing applications to ensure comprehensive and timely maintenance thus boosting security
  • Monitoring all workspaces in the environment to prevent unplanned downtime

Plus, Liquidware solutions – used together – help healthcare organizations meet Dept. of Homeland Security US-CERT recommendations to protect their computer networks from malware and ransomware attacks.

Can’t-Miss Demos, Presentations

Liquidware is one of the IGEL Ready partners who will be providing live demos of technology that integrates with IGEL OS to enhance the security, productivity and manageability of healthcare endpoints during HIMSS 22. Partners in the IGEL Ready ecosystem are helping healthcare organizations reimagine their healthcare technology to better support the roaming, shift working healthcare provider. Specifically, IGEL OS and its UMS management software are ideally suited to support a shared workplace, with secure policy controls and management. IGEL OS also enables easy user access so physicians and clinical staff can get to work quickly, in whatever device and location they’re using.
